Greetings in Christ!

We will be going on our field trip to Chaplin Nature Center this Friday. Please send your child with a lunch, as lunch will not be provided by the school. If you would like to attend with your child, make sure you have filled out the background check.

Religion: We will be discussing idolatry and how this connects to the story of the Israelites and the golden calf. We will read about the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle and how these connect to our Liturgy. We also will learn about the Israelites and the 12 spies and Aaron’s rod.

Memory: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Reading: We will finish reading The Giver this week. Once we finish , students will write their own endings to the book.

Students should be reading their books for their Independent Reading Projects for at least 15 minutes a night. This project is due October 12th. Please email me at if you have any questions.

We will also learn about the region’s cities and rural areas, challenges facing the region, and the economy of the region.

Science: We are wrapping up our unit on Living Things in the Biosphere. On Monday students will complete a digital investigation that allows them to show their understanding of vascular/nonvascular and vertebrate/invertebrate structures. On Tuesday we will review the unit. Students will have a test on Wednesday.

5-6 Reading: We will finish The Westing Game this week. Students have made some great predictions and it is time to see who is correct!
