Greetings Kindergarten,

This week in Religion our story will be: “The Birth of John the Baptist” Luke 1:5-25, 57-80. We will also continue practicing our school theme: In All Things.

Our school verse is “Christ is before all things and in Him all things hold together” Colossians 1:17.

This week in Reading our theme will be: “Where do animals live?” Our question this week will be: “What kind of bed does a mouse need for the winter”. Our book for this week will be: A Bed for the Winter. Our genre will be: informational text. We will be focusing on the comprehension skill: sequencing. We will be recognizing alphabet letters and sounds as well as rhyming words.

Our high frequency words will be: for, he, have, to, a, I, am, the, and little as well as our color/ number/ and family words.

This week in Phonics we will focus on the letter Nn /n/ & Ii /i/.

This week in Math we will work on: writing number sentences, adding facts with doubles, adding one to another number, counting backwards and building with a pattern. We will introduce time and measurement. We will also continue to work on: number recognition, counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s, and writing our numbers to 50.

This week in Science we will study animals who hibernate.

In Social Studies we will study: making choices- needs vs. wants.
